Trying to Find Motivation

This is something that has always alluded me.

Sure, if there is a definite deadline or it is a life-or-death situation, I am on it! But, this whole “planning for the future”, “plant the seed that will be the tree of tomorrow” bologna never really hit me right.

It’s hard for me to find that spark, when the results are so far off.

I’ve been thinking about it a lot today, because there are things in my life that I am putting off an avoiding that will not get any easier in time. I’m feeling somewhat more motivated today, so I thought I would get the ball rolling by doing something I’ve been putting off for weeks *cough* months:

writing a new post. 

I started writing on here to clear my head and get things off my chest. I really enjoy and have found a lot of help from reading from people going through what I am going through : moving to a new country (that you don’t actually like very much), sacrificing for a relationship, general relationship advise (living with someone is hard, y’all), partner visa stress and starting a career from scratch.

I look into stories like those to keep me motivated and give me hope that everyday wont be as hard as the last and that hopefully *fingers crossed* this storm will pass.

So, I have plans and I’ll put them out there, so the Universe (I know you’re out there!) will hear what I’m up to and hopefully I’ll get the kick in the ass that I need.

1. Work on My Udemy Courses

I started taking courses at the beginning of the year, because I was unemployed, bored and really want to change my career into something more.. mobile. I have been taking WebDev and Java Programming courses on and off since then (more off than on at the moment) and this is something I need to fully commit to and start doing SERIOUSLY! I want a job I can travel with and putting off learning is only going to hurt me and my partner in the long run.

Plan: 30m-1 hour a day of each course, so 1-2 hours total.

    2. Experiment on WordPress

I have been wanting to start another bloggish thing, also for fun, so I can play around with WordPress more and learn more about the design and development sides of the site. I need to sit an have a good long think about what I want it to be about. This one is kind of all over the place and I’d like to make one that is a bit more structured.

         At the moment, I’m thinking about either one that is a daily diary of my partner and mine’s life here is Australia (what we get up to, trips we take) or a Keto Journey diary/catch all.

I  like the idea of having something to look back on and also having a place my family (very elderly family) can click on quickly and get updated.

Plan: Write down Ideas and deign plan.

   3. Writing More Blog Posts

This one is simple. I always feel more clear-headed and calm after a write for a bit and I love getting replies from you guys. I have had some comments int eh past that I was in DESPERATE need of. Thanks so much!

Plan: 2h a week typing on here, whether or not I plan on publishing.

  4. Exercise

I mean, this is also obvious. I have lost a lot of weight on Keto, but it has done nothing to tone me. I feel like a smaller gumby version of myself and mourn the ass I used to have everyday. I’m not ready for a gym yet, but there will be 10,000 step/day challenge in my future.

Plan:10,000 steps a day OR 30m yoga exercise.

 5. Watch Less TV

Matt and I started a really good rule of turning off the TV, phones and computers at 8:30pm, so we aren’t tempted to binge-watch shows all night, buuuuuut we have been slacking.

Over the past few weeks, 8:30 has turned into 9:45, 11:20 and even 12:00am. This isn’t so bad every now and then, but we have been doing it every day and with Matt getting sick, us going changing our diet so much, long travel coming up and financial strain from the blasted! Partner visa, the last thing we need is to burn out our eye sockets.

When we were good and followed our rules, it led to us playing board games, whittling and reading more. We were much more connected and involved with each other, which makes me very happy 🙂

Plan: Electronics are OUT THE WINDOW at 8:30 sharp. Even if it lands on a cliffhanger.
